Zambia eVisa general information

Zambia eVisa is an electronic visa allowing eligible foreigners to enter the country for tourism, business, and transit purposes.

Three types of Zambia online visa – single-entry, double-entry, and multiple-entry ones – permit one to stay in Zambia for 90 days. There are also additional types – a Zambia transit eVisa and a KAZA UNIVISA, which enables travelers to visit both Zimbabwe and Zambia.

Zambian electronic visa was implemented by the Zambian government to simplify the application process. Now it is easy to apply for a Zambia visa online: you should just fill out the application form, attach the necessary documents and check your inbox.

Usually, you need to wait for three business days to get your Zambia eVisa approved. On arrival, you will need to present the paper copy of your Zambia online visa to the immigration officials.

Types of Zambian electronic visas

According to the number of entries allowed, Zambia eVisas can be divided into three types which stay valid for 90 days each:

• a single-entry Zambia visa allowing to enter the country once;
• a double-entry Zambia visa permitting to enter the country twice;
• a multiple-entry Zambia visa enabling numerous entries.

Also, there are additional visa types:

• a transit Zambia visa offering multiple entries for transit purposes and staying effective for seven days;
• a KAZA UNIVISA that lets travelers enter both Zimbabwe and Zambia and allows them to stay in each country for 30 days.

Zambia eVisa application instruction

You can submit a Zambia visa application online, which won’t require much effort. You can do it at home within several minutes using your phone, tablet, laptop, or PC.

Look at the instruction that will guide you through the Zambia eVisa application process:

• Fill out the application form on the website. You should indicate your purpose of travel – whether you are applying for a Zambia tourist visa, business visa, or transit visa. It is also necessary to enter your other travel, personal, and passport information.
• Attach the required documents.
• Thoroughly double-check all the information you provide to ensure you avoid any errors.
• Make the online payment through any available method (e.g., your debit or credit card) to cover the Zambia visa fee.
• Wait for the online Zambia visa to be approved and delivered to your email address.

The average processing time is a few days. However, in some cases, the government of Zambia can elongate it.

Zambia eVisa validity

The validity period varies for each Zambia visa type. A single-entry, double-entry, and multiple-entry visas to Zambia are effective for 90 days.

A transit visa to Zambia has a validity period of seven days, after which you need to head to the next destination.

A KAZA UNIVISA is issued for 30 days. Keep in mind that your passport mustn’t expire within 6 months from arrival.

Transit information

If you need to cross the borders of Zambia to get to another country, you need to obtain a Zambia transit visa that lets you stay in Zambia for up to 7 days.

Consider that a transit visa type is only good for you if you plan to enter Zambia by land. However, if you travel to the country by air, instead of a Zambia transit visa, you have to apply for a tourist one.

Requirements for Zambia visa online application

Only citizens from eligible countries can apply for a Zambia visa application online. It is also necessary to meet the basic technical requirements – have a working device (phone, tablet, laptop, or PC) with stable internet access and an active email.

Moreover, there is a list of required documents:

• a passport valid for a minimum of six months from the arrival date and the photo of its bio-data page;
• a photo of the applicant’s face – can be taken by phone or PC camera;
• a copy of the return ticket;
• a cover letter to the Immigration Office’s Chief Director.

On arrival, the customs officials will check your passport and a printed copy of your online visa to Zambia.

Note that if you have an electronic transit visa to Zambia, you can only cross the border of Zambia by land. If you want to use a plane, you will need to get another visa type.
