The Oman visa policy states rules and restrictions regarding entry to the country. There are many available visas to Oman that can be used for different purposes. One of them is Oman eVisa.

An online visa to Oman can be used for tourism-related trips by eligible travelers. It allows for up to 28, 30, or 90 days stays, depending on nationality. It is straightforward to obtain Oman eVisa. Applicants need to complete the form, cover the fee, and wait for approval.

Many nationalities can apply for an eVisa to Oman, including citizens of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. A few nationals must get a visa at the embassy. Also, a traditional visa is required in case of a longer stay in Oman or for a different purpose, such as employment or residency.

According to the Omani authorities, there are 5 visa-exempt countries (Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates). Citizens from them may visit Oman without a visa.

Who can enter Oman?

All travelers who meet entry requirements to Oman can visit the country. The most important documents are a valid visa (if needed) and a passport that won’t expire within the next 6 months.

The COVID-19 restrictions were lifted, so generally, there is no need to show vaccination proof or testing results. However, your airlines may require wearing a mask or a negative test, so keep that in mind.

Methods of Getting a Visa for Oman

The Royal Oman Police manages the process of visiting Oman and getting a visa. There are various types of tourist visas that can be obtained by eligible travelers. To do so, they need to complete the visa form, cover the fee, and wait for approval.

The Oman eVisa will be sent to the email in PDF form. It can grant single or multiple entries to the country. Those, who can’t apply for an electronic visa, must contact the nearest embassy or consulate.

Also, some citizens from 5 Middle-East countries don’t need a visa to enter Oman. In this case, only a valid passport or GCC national ID is needed.

Electronic visa (e-Visa)

The online visa to Oman was introduced in 2018 by Omani authorities as a digital visa that eligible travelers from around 220 countries may obtain, thanks to the electronic application process.

It is very simple and fast, and no visit to the embassy or consulate is necessary. There are two types of Oman eVisa: single-entry permits for up to 30-day stays or multiple-entry permits valid for 1 year.

An Oman visa on arrival is not issued anymore. It was withdrawn in February 2019, and right now, travelers can get an online visa or embassy visa instead.

Regular visa

As the visa policy of Oman states, approximately 20 nationalities must apply for an Oman visa at the embassy. Also, visitors with different travel purposes than tourism or those who want to stay longer in Oman must contact the embassy or consulate.

They need to make a face-to-face appointment, submit the documents and wait for approval. Note that a valid passport is a must-have to apply.

Entry requirements for children

There are no special travel requirements for children who travel to Oman. Minors must meet the same conditions as adults and have a valid passport and a visa.

Transit information

If you want to transit through Oman in order to reach a final destination, you must have a visa when you intend to stay in the transit zone longer than 6 hours and are not from a visa-exempt country. Besides, prepare an onward ticket and valid passport that won’t expire within the next 6 months.
