Morocco Visa Policy

Morocco visa policy is a set of entry rules that Moroccan authorities implement for travelers from foreign countries.

The requirements vary between different countries, therefore, each traveler must examine the visa policy of Morocco and familiarize with travel advice regarding their nationality.

According to the latest information, a Morocco visa can be obtained online or by making an in-person visit to the embassy/consulate.

A Morocco electronic visa is the most straightforward method and requires only a few minutes of the applicant’s time. The entire procedure takes place online. Morocco e-Visa allows to have one visit to Morocco for up to 30 days.

Citizens of 5 countries need to apply for a Morocco ETA. The application process is completed electronically and is similar to obtaining a Moroccan e-Visa.

Nationals who qualify neither for a Moroccan online visa nor for an ETA, must schedule a visit with an embassy to receive a regular visa. The application process for a regular visa takes more time and may require additional documents.

Moreover, citizens of more than 60 countries can enter Morocco without any visa. They are allowed to stay in Morocco for up to 90 days.

Note that a Morocco visa is only one of the documents required to travel to Morocco. Check the extended Morocco entry requirements: for example, every traveler must have a valid passport. People heading to Morocco from a yellow fever belt country must have a vaccination certificate – without it, they can be entry-refused.

Who can enter Morocco?

Morocco is open to all foreign nationals wh meet the stipulated entry requirements. A foreign visitor that plans to travel to Morocco must get a visa unless they are a national eligible for visa exemption.

On July 10, 2022, the Moroccan government introduced an e-Visa system to make traveling easier and attract more tourists from foreign countries.

Entry requirements for Morocco

Morocco diplomatic missions advise that a traveler’s passport must remain effective for a minimum 3 months of arrival in Morocco. It is also required that a passport contain at least one blank page.

Non-visa-exempt foreign citizens must obtain a Moroccan visa before traveling to Morocco – either online or by visiting an embassy/consulate.

COVID-19 restrictions at the entrance to Moroccan territory have been lifted, so travelers are no longer required to present a PCR test or Vaccinal Pass.

A yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for those traveling from or transiting through a country with a risk of yellow fever transmission. The validity of a yellow fever certificate is 10 days after the vaccination, so one should get the vaccination in time before heading for Morocco.

You can enter the country at a recognized port of entry only. Crossing the Morocco borders through any other ports is illegal.

Requirements checklist for entering Morocco

According to the Morocco travel entry requirements, every foreign traveler visiting Morocco must have:

• a valid passport
• a Morocco visa (if applicable)
• a yellow fever vaccination (if applicable)

Important: Morocco can bring in new travel advice at short notice. It is highly recommended to check the latest entry requirements to Morocco with your travel company or airline for changes.

Methods of getting a visa to Morocco

Depending on a traveler’s nationality, it is possible to obtain a electronic visa or ETA to Morocco through online application process or get a regular Moroccan visa at the embassy or consulate.

Electronic visa

The Morocco e-Visa is the easiest method of obtaining a visa to Morocco – all required is to complete the online form, attach supporting documents, and pay the fees. The approval will then be delivered via email, so the entire process takes place remotely.

The electronic visa to Morocco is single-entry and remains valid for 6 months. It allows to stay in the country for tourism and business purposes for up to 30 days.

ETA

Citizens of 5 countries – the Republic of the Congo, Guinea, Israel, Mali, and Thailand do not need a visa to Morocco, however, they are required to complete an electronic travel authorization (ETA) to Morocco.

The procedure takes place online as well, so applicants do not have to go to the Morocco diplomatic mission in person.

Regular visa

Nationals who are not eligible for a Morocco electronic visa or ETA have to get a regular visa to Morocco at the embassy or consulate. In this case, an in-person visit to the visa office is required.

The application process for a Moroccan regular visa may require a visa interview with a consular office and a larger set of documents than an electronic visa application.

Entry requirements for children

The Morocco entry requirements for children are the same as for adult travelers. All minors must have a valid passport. Moreover, children from visa-required countries must have a Morocco visa, and those traveling from countries with a high risk of yellow fever transmission must hold a certificate of yellow fever vaccination.

Note that underage travelers are not allowed to travel to Morocco on their own, they can enter the country only with their parent or legal guardian.

Transit information

Nationals who do not have visa-free access and need to pass through Morocco to a third country must obtain a transit Morocco visa.

The Moroccan transit visa is issued for one or two transit visits and permits its holders to stay in the country for up to 72 hours (3 days) before they head to their next destination.

• Morocco visa policy offers two methods of obtaining a visa: a Morocco e-Visa and a regular visa.
• Morocco electronic visa is the most convenient way to get a visa to Morocco, as it has an entirely online application process.
• Nationals of certain countries need to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to Morocco.
• A regular visa to Morocco can be obtained only by attending the Moroccan diplomatic mission in person.
• Citizens of about 65 countries have visa exemption to Morocco.
• Every person visiting Morocco must have a passport that remains valid for at least 3 months from the date of applying for a visa.
