Jordan visa policy

The Jordanian visa policy states the rules of entry to the country. Most foreign citizens must have a passport valid for at least 6 months with 2 blank pages and a visa to visit Jordan. What is more, there are no visa bans in Jordan at this moment, so all eligible travelers may go there.

Nationals from UE (except Croatia) and Lebanon need only an ID card to cross the Jordan border. However, they must arrive at the Aqaba Airport from Brussels and have a return ticket (the only exception are Government workers who transit to Iraq).

A visa-free entry is granted for around 10 nationalities for up to 3 months, depending on the country (mostly members of the Gulf Cooperation Council). Other citizens must obtain a visa to enter Jordan.

Besides, it is advisable to get the Jordan Pass. It is a package valid for 12 months, including permits to over 40 sites and a tourist visa. This option is very convenient, as no visit to the embassy is necessary, and you can apply within minutes.

Those who are not eligible for an electronic visa or want to travel for a different purpose than tourism should contact the nearest Jordanian embassy or consulate to know more about traditional visas. Also, some nationals may obtain a visa on arrival.

Remember that passport that won’t expire within the next 6 months is one of the essential documents if you travel to Jordan.

Who can enter Jordan?

Those who are eligible can go to Jordan with the required documents, like Jordan Pass. There are no travel bans in the country, so everyone who meets Jordan entry requirements can visit the place.

Besides, travelers don’t need to conduct COVID-19 tests on arrival or before their trip. However, note that non-Jordanian citizens should complete Jordan Declaration Form introduced by the government.

Entry requirements for Jordan

The visa policy of Jordan states that all travelers who meet entry requirements can visit Jordan. They must prepare the necessary documents (for example, Jordan Pass) and show them upon arrival. Conditions are not numerous, so they won’t be a problem. Note that visitors who have HIV may be denied at entry points.

Methods of getting a visa to Jordan

There are several methods of getting a Jordan visa. Check them all and pick the one perfect for you.

Electronic visa

You can apply for a Visitor Visa or a Jordan Pass. Both permits can be obtained online without going to the embassy or consulate. It is a very convenient option for everyone who values time and effort.

Jordan Pass is valid for 12 months and can be used for tourism-related purposes. The application process is intuitive and straightforward. You just need to complete the form, attach the documents, cover the fee, and wait for confirmation. Then, print out your eVisa, which will be sent to your email in PDF form.

Visa on arrival

A Jordan visa on arrival is a single-entry permit valid for 2 months. You need to arrive at Queen Alia Airport or the Sheikh Hussein Bridge to apply for it. Moreover, holders of Jordan Pass can obtain it at the Wadi Araba (Eilat-Aqaba) checkpoint for free if they are eligible.

Regular visa

Nationals from over 80 countries need to contact the embassy or consulate to go to Jordan. This visa type requires making an appointment and taking part in the interview.

You may need to submit the supporting documents depending on the length and purpose of the stay. Also, remember about the visa fee that must be paid.

Entry requirements for children

The entry requirements are the same for all travelers who visit Jordan, regardless of age. Parents must apply for a visa and other documents on their children’s behalf.

Transit information

You don’t need to apply for a transit visa if you have connecting flights within 48 hours and an onward ticket. In case you want to stay in the country for up to 72 hours, you must get a transit visa.
