Qatar eVisa – Basic information

Qatar eVisa is an electronic visa that can be obtained by certain travelers coming from eligible countries. The system of eVisa was introduced by the Qatari Government in 2017 with the aim of speeding up and easing the entire procedure of getting a visa for Qatar.

There are various types of online visas for Qatar, and the type that one should obtain is determined by the individual’s nationality as well as the traveling motive.

Qatar eVisa types

There are four types of Qatar eVisas that can be obtained online, including:

• ETA: The Electronic Travel Authorization dedicated to travelers not being eligible for visa-free entry to Qatar but holding a valid residence permit or a visit visa to certain countries (one of the Schengen Area country, Canada, USA, Australia, or New Zealand); ETA is a one-entry permit allowing staying in Qatar for up to 30 days.
• Online Tourist Visa: a visa dedicated to nationals of these countries who are neither ETA-eligible nor can travel to Qatar visa-free; the Qatar eVisa is issued for a 30-day stay in the country, and its validity is 30 days as well.
• GCC Resident Visa: a single-entry visa for a 30-day stay in Qatar (with the option of extension by another 3 months); dedicated to all residents of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC countries nationals can travel to Qatar visa-free).
• Transit Visa: a visa available for nationals of all countries around the world who wish to transit through Qatar on their way to their final destination; to apply for a transit visa, the transit stop in Qatar must last at least 5 hours; the visa is issued for 4 days (96 hours).

Important! Should you not possess a valid residence permit or a valid visa to the countries listed above, you may still apply for an eVisa to Qatar as long as your country is listed as eVisa eligible.

Qatar eVisa application form

After familiarizing yourself with the visa requirements for the selected visa type and gathering all the necessary documents, you can start your visa application which consists of the following steps:

1. Fill out the online form: put all the required details and upload supporting documents; double-check all the data entered and move on to the second step.
2. Cover the visa fee: choose one of the available methods of online payment and cover the processing fee.
3. Check your email: shortly after covering the fee, the confirmation number will be sent to your email; make sure to check whether you have received it.

The approved Qatar eVisa will also arrive in your email inbox once approved. It may take up to a few business days to process your application.

eVisa Qatar validity

The Qatar Online Tourist Visa, the ETA, and the GCC Resident Visa remain valid for 30 days from the date of planned arrival in Qatar. In turn, the transit visa is valid for 96 hours (4 days) from the date of crossing the Qatari borders.

Please note that you can extend the ETA for another 30 days, while the GCC visa extension can be done for another 90 days (3 months). Also, remember that your passport must remain valid throughout the entire duration of your trip.

• valid residence permit copy or a copy of a visit visa to Australia, Canada, USA, New Zealand, or any of the Schengen Area countries

Transit information

Everyone planning to transit through Qatar and stay within the transit zone for at least 5 hours must obtain a transit visa. The transit visa is issued for 4 days (96 hours) from the date of planned arrival in Qatar.

The transit visa for Qatar is available for citizens of every country in the world free of charge. Do remember to carry is printed copy and have it ready to show upon your arrival in Qatar.
