Malawi eVisa – Basic information

Malawi eVisa was launched by the Malawi government in 2019. Now eligible citizens can apply for a visa in a simple way without attending an embassy or consulate in person.

There are four types of Malawi eVisa: one for transit, and three others for tourism, business, and medical purposes. The permitted period of stay varies between the types, it may be 7 days, 30 days, 6 months, or one year. The validity period is the same for all types – 90 days from approval.

To obtain a Malawi electronic visa, an applicant must complete the online form, attach proper documentation, and make the payment. Once approved, it will be delivered directly to the email address.

It is necessary to print out the PDF document containing a visa and take it to the border control. Please submit the application at least 5 days before your arrival in Malawi, as it needs time to be processed.
